Hip Hop Carters was founded in 2020 by Emma Caldwell, a new mom in San Diego who couldn't find baby clothing that was truly soft, truly safe, and truly beautiful — all at once.
After her daughter Lily was born with sensitive skin, Emma spent weeks researching organic fabrics and ethical manufacturing. Frustrated by the lack of options that met all her standards, she decided to create them herself.
Starting from a spare bedroom, Emma designed her first collection of five onesies. Within six months, word spread through local parent groups and she outgrew her home studio. Today, Hip Hop Carters ships to families across all 50 states from our San Diego headquarters.
Every piece we make carries forward that original promise: if it's not gentle enough for Lily, it's not good enough for your baby either.
